Springtime knits

So I tried the crochet edging on the Sweet Mary Jane again, with no luck...it still came out looking different from the first slipper. What the heck is wrong the me? How can I figure it out once, but not the second go-around? Argh!! The new plan: Seek help from local yarn shop this weekend.

In the meantime, the world's slowest knitter has been contemplating lovely springy knits she could knit, if she knit faster. For example:

The Green Gable sweater...isn't it cute? Knit in the round, the only seaming at the sleeves. Perhaps it can be my first sweater. Of course, it probably would take me a year to knit...or more...maybe I can wear it next summer.

Or how about the Cool Hemp Ponchette? Normally I do not care for ponchos, unless they're for young children, but I rather like this one.

Well, a girl can dream...I'm actually working on the One Skein Wonder right now...how many more months will that take? Sometimes it is frustrating, when things others can knit in a day or two takes me months, but then I remind myself to be grateful that I can knit, even a little bit. Happy Friday!

Swappish

I am feeling a bit swappish, so I signed up for the Knitters Tea Swap...it sounds like fun!

Speaking of knitting, yesterday I finished knitting the second Sweet Mary Jane...but then I was confounded by how to do the crochet edging. Again. Argh!! I plan to give it another go later this week. Then perhaps the...world's...slowest...knitter...will have a finished pair to show. Perhaps...

Nesting

George and Gracie the peregrine falcons are back. But this year only one of their four eggs hatched. This week I have been checking the Peregrine Nest Cam for a glimpse of the hatchling, with no luck yet...but it is nice to see Gracie again!

**Update**
I saw a white fluffy something when Gracie stepped away for a moment, around 12:30 pm. So exciting!

April showers

Everything is coming up flowers at Chez Arrow...

I made a few fabric flower pins using this great tutorial...isn't it wonderful how generous the online crafting community is? So many creative people sharing ideas and their crafts...I love it. The flowers were fun to make, though involved rather a lot of cutting...

The white one is my favorite

Feeling bold after the success of the flower pins, I attempted these pincushions...the brown one has been put to use already.

I also made a couple more felt flower pins...here they are next to the first one on my Sophie bag.

And here are some blooming daffodils on our back deck...daffodils are such happy flowers!

Crafty

Rainy spring break equals quality crafting time...I finally made a knitting needle case for my DPNs and circulars.

Yay for bamboo

This cute little crayon roll was my guide; I just changed the dimensions for my needle sizes. And, inspired by two rabbits' recent peek back at her previous crafts, I felt the dish soap bottle really needed an apron.

Not the best fit, but the soap bottle doesn't seem to mind...

The Easter beagles

A few ladies made it to Chez Arrow yesterday for knitting and cupcakes. We taste tested the Samoa cupcake for Jess and Tony's wedding next month. It was my first foray into cupcake dissection...removing the top, filling the cavity, replacing the top, and frosting...and it was rather challenging. The resulting cupcakes garnered mixed reviews...there was concern about the top falling off, which made the cupcake a bit difficult to eat. So I think we'll make another type of cupcake for the wedding...one that doesn't require dissection.

The Easter beagles are making their annual appearance. At first Arrow thought they were toys for her, but she has since made friends with them. Here she is enjoying a rare sunny moment with her new friends. I want to get her some bunny ears so she can be an Easter beagle also, but can you believe we haven't found any at the many pet accoutrement stores in the city?

Rain rain go away

It just keeps raining here in San Francisco! I hope it clears up by Thursday, which is Opening Day for the Giants.

Not much craftiness to report. I made a few more tissue holders, including a gnome print for Dan. I sent a couple of tissue holders to Jen, who makes handmade lovelies with her sister. And they have hounds.

More tissue holders

Here is the beagle. Doesn't she look like she's smiling?
