Fall into orange

Finally, a finished item! Yes, it's been slow going at Chez Arrow...perhaps it's the shortening days of fall...but I did manage to finish an Uptown Bag, which I decided to make despite the hugeness of the Downtown Purse.

Uptown bag
Orange floral for fall

Despite its large size, I still love the shape of this bag...but I am not happy with the fusible did not seem to fuse evenly and there is a rumpled look that is not attractive at all! Next time I definitely will opt for heavyweight sew-in interfacing.

A peek at the lining

Of the Amy Butler patterns that I've tried, this was the most challenging...stitching around the top of the bag after the handles were attached was very awkward! Hence a slightly lumpy unevenness along the top, which I think distracts from the shape...but perhaps with a bit of wear I won't notice it as much. I may try making this bag again...after all, the holidays are lurking...just a couple months away!

Looks perfectly cute in the photos! Perhaps the lumps and bumps will settle when you start to use it. It's just begging to be filled with goodies. Nice work.

I hope by now you are feeling better from your strep unpleasantness. Be healthy soon!

lumps and bumps always make it better, you should know this! what kind of interfacing did you use?
i think your bag is WONDERFUL, perhaps it was also because orange is my favrote color and that fabric is totally awesome!!

Very cute! I made several bags a few years ago (I think I got bagged out!) but seeing your pretty ones makes me want to get started on some more. If I started now, I could have some gifts done by Christmas. But someone I always seem to wait until much too late.

I had the same problem when I made it. Here is a pic of mine that I did earlier this year

ok now tell me more about this uptown purse...cause i made the SMART HANDBAG or intown bag yesterday and let me tell you this purse is SMALL. way small actually, even tiny. Perhaps you'd like it more? i think i for myself need something bigger, so of course i'm going to enlarge the pattern, but hey tell me more about this pattern cause i'm going tot he quilt hop again this weekend!
i can't descide between the swing bag (sans giant ugly bow) and the uptown bag
