Summer sewing

I managed to find my fabric and such, so I have finally started sewing a bit at the new Chez Arrow. First, inspired by Jennifer, I attempted a couple of headbands.

Headband gifties

Then, I made a baby headband for Carina's first birthday, and a brag book to show her cute baby photos. I think this one came out a little better than the first one I tried a few months ago, for baby Chloe.

There are quite a few things I want to try sewing...and I still have not made any progress on the Nappy Bag...oops, maybe I should take a look at that pattern, eh?

Mail love

Last week I received not one, but TWO packages from lovely ladies in I lucky or what?

First, Amy of Amyville sent the cutest celadon cupcake stitch marker and charm. I love them! I immediately put the stitch marker on the back of my Green Gable, and seeing it makes me smile every time I finish knitting a round. Thank you Amy!

Then, Arrow and I received a boxFULL of goodies from Jennifer of Piddleloop...opening it just about knocked me over!

Look at our loot!

The first thing I saw was the pretty blue and brown floral headband that I had coveted on her blog...there was a whole bag full of Moustache Factory buttons, including my favorite dachshunds...a sweet pink zipper pouch and two cute tissue marble magnets featuring Snoopy the beagle...sushi tissues! Hello Kitty Pez, a plush Peep, chicken poop lip balm, cat butt gum, cake and candy stickers...and a big bag of treats for Arrow (from her hounds Sam and Lucy). Thank you so much, Jennifer! I am so touched by your thoughtfulness and generosity.

I tried to get a picture of Arrow enjoying her treats, but she was too fast for me. So here she is reading the funnies...

Summer solstice

The morning of the first (very hot) day of summer was spent making postcards announcing the move to the new digs.

Chez Arrow postcards

I tried to carve a house stamp...was not altogether pleased with the results, but ended up using the second attempt, which is on the left.

In knitting news, slow progress continues on Green Gable...just split the sleeves and the sweater is starting to take shape. Knitting with cotton is slooow!

Graduation capelet

The glacier blue capelet is finished! Knitting was completed during (sanity) breaks from packing...

Capelet, side view
Side the new backyard

Pattern: Anthrogologie-inspired capelet
Yarn: Crystal Palace Labrador, color 2013, 2 skeins
Needles: US 10 1/2 bamboo circulars (29")

This truly was a quick knit, even for a slow knitter like me. And, I had to re-knit quite a bit of the thing when I discovered I was doing purl-side yarn overs incorrectly...oops...and not getting the pretty eyelets along the raglan line. But even with that delay, I was able to finish knitting it in time. It came out a bit smaller than I expected...I probably should have used US11 needles, but hopefully it will be alright.

I gave it to my sister yesterday, as part of her graduation gifties...she is a high school graduate! I hope she likes it!

Chez Arrow

Lots of boxes all over the place, since Chez Arrow is moving this first, Arrow was so scared of the boxes, she wouldn't even go in for a treat...and this beagle loves treats. Eventually, she decided to peek inside...but then the noise of her collar touching the box scared her back out. Silly beagle!

Arrow and the box

She seems less wary of the boxes now, though she still runs in and out very quickly for a treat. No packing for this she is relaxing on the Peanuts baseball pillows...

Ah, the life of a dog!
