Christmas candy always a welcome surprise

This weekend I received an unexpected gift of peppermint bark...yummy!

Here is Serta sheep #44 relaxing with a lavender eye pillow.

Here is mybear modeling the Bora Bora scarf...check out his slightly lopsided brown felt nose...a replacement because a certain poochie dog thought his nose was a chewy snack.

Here's the pattern for this fuzzy muffler, from a display scarf at Imagiknit:
1 skein GGH Esprit
US 11 needles
- Cast on 13 stitches
- Knit all stitches
- Bind off
- Weave in ends
(The first time I used this pattern was with a skein of dark red maroony Geisha...the scarf was a little fuzzier.)

Local cupcakes not yet sampled

After every visit to New York I return wondering why there is such a cupcake shortage here. Thus began my dream to start a cupcakery...alas several locals have beat me to the punch...er, cupcake...though they don't have an actual venue where you can just pop in for one, you have to order a whole bunch. (Its portability is part of the beauty of a cupcake.) So I haven't tried their cupcakes yet, but they do look tasty!

I've read about Sibby's Cupcakery in a few places...and look at these cute animal cupcakes on The Cupcake Fairy, via Daily Candy.

I especially like the turtle.

I can see clearly now the rain is gone...

But for how long? Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, I say.

Lovely long weekend...highlights include a massage!! And Dan took me to sushi...mmm...speaking of sushi, check out these sushi USB drives -- thanks Pamela! -- aren't they cute? I think they're hilarious.

Oh! And we saw goats in San Francisco! About 30 of them, on a hillside between Glen Park and Miraloma. Sitting in the rain and munching. I guess they're clearing out the brush.

Sushi PJs...book club reading...

My sushi fabric arrived from Sewzanne's -- yay!

It's so cute! I'm going to Britex after work to find a pattern for pajama bottoms...ahh...a new project is always so exciting.

Also went to my book club meeting yesterday. We've started one up at work. I loved the first book we read, The Namesake, but I only read about 30 pages of last night's book, 1906. Liked the local angle but didn't enjoy the writing at all. Hopefully our next selection will be more promising.

Is it time to build an ark?

One is spoiled here in the Bay Area. It rains for a couple of days, and it seems neverending. And the forecast is rain all week...wahh!

Received a couple of belated Valentines from students today...I love unexpected presents...especially when one was an asymmetric glazed pink heart hand crafted in her uncle's clay studio. Yay!

Sushi on the brain...sushi fabric at SewZanne's (via super eggplant)...I need to get a pattern for pajama bottoms! And the dessert sushi at not martha is super cute but also weird...intriguing...

Happy Valentine's Day

Today I received six valentines from students...two of them homemade! Makes me feel less cynical about the so-called holiday. I guess I'm sweetened up from the chocolate.

This weekend I made chocolate buttermilk cupcakes from Everyday Food. They were not bad, for a low-fat cupcake. However, the conversation heart I put on top of each cupcake colored the surrounding cream cheese frosting...ew...kind of ruined the cute aesthetics. Any suggestions on how to prevent this?

Still no pics, but coming soon...(I hope)

Pooches...late night knitting...cupcakes

Yesterday I observed the day my best friend went to poochie heaven by visiting our old haunt, Duboce Park...got to pet Sophie the sweet Australian Shepherd and meet Josie, a new dog at the park. (There's my sweet Harley at the park under "About Me.")

Later in the evening I worked on the Bora Bora scarf...I kept thinking I was almost finished, until the wee hours of the night...I finally realized it was a neverending skein of yarn. I think I will finish today...just a few more rows and then the dreaded weaving the ends in. Hope to have a pic here soon!

Yummy looking cupcakes via not martha...mmm...

Happy Year of the Rooster!

A new foray...rather exciting!

Made an eye pillow last night...
- green silk from Britex and lavender moleskin from a discount fabric store
- flax seeds and lavender buds from Rainbow Grocery

Visited cute little shop Doe yesterday and got this owl pin, as seen on Daily Candy.

No pics yet...still need to get a digital camera!
